NILGA Statement: Violence, racism and hate have no place in Northern Ireland

Our thoughts are with the victim and his family following Monday’s brutal attack.

NILGA condemns the intimidation, racism and disorder that followed, and stands with member councils, their communities and everyone affected.

These incidents have caused significant concern for residents, businesses and visitors across council areas. Violence and disorder serve no purpose, they damage lives, weaken communities and undermine public confidence.

Councils across Northern Ireland work every day to support safe, cohesive and welcoming communities. There is no place for violence, racism or hatred anywhere in our society.
